John Ferguson Obviously lost down the back of the sofa for over a decade (my investigation suggests recorded in 2012), but this definitely deserves to be heard! Guitarist Ant Law and bassist Kevin Glasgow have since become essential players on the wonderful UK contemporary jazz scene (eg check out Ant's and Preston Glasgow Lowe's Bandcamp pages), but here they're totally rocking out! If you like Red Hot Chilli Peppers, Porcupine Tree, Thumpermonkey et al, then like me, you'll love this.

Harpies 04:14
In the beginning They were just words Only self expression But now they are in control They define us They divide us in sects And all that we learn Has to argue against them And give proof of its worth To these followers The first who spoke aloud Spread opinions to explain the start But now we have new ideals We have justice We can heed the consequence The all the undecided That there are no sins - there are only judgements Make all these lost souls see That there are no souls - there are only moments
2.
A grain of sand falls through the glass capillary Somewhere a shard of time is withering You can hear it fall a thunderball or misery Somewhere a hopeful heart is leaking Chorus: All this pain that you try and live with And contain with a ball and chain Well it tugs at your heart and spirit And it gains force and weight If you betray your sorrow And you make out that its all ok Then your tears are in vain And as the sand slips through your hands just savour it Another a shard of time is broken You can hear it call, the spark of life, the Midas touch Another shard of time is born again Chorus Counting all the grains Ticking along, counting away Storing all his weight Heaving along, crawling on your knees

HHH 02:33
Asbestos messes with your brain Dieldrin is a moth-proofing agent Ammonia irritates your eyes Mix it with bleach and you'll be comatised Petroleum distillates we postulate give cancer to the lung So you don't wanna breathe that shit in And monosaccarides are very nice but rot away your gums Can somebody save me please? I'm losing the will to live From fear of disease These things are surrounding me Oh my god And so I'm moving to the countryside To get away from this toxicity I'll grow a beard and brew some herbal tea I'll wear a leaf and burn my PVCs Wait, that releases CFCs And MPTP will give me PD Wait come to think of it I think I'm better back inside the womb Cos mama won't raise no fool
4.
Leap 04:31
Pause before you begin And let the truth sink in Prepare and say goodbye Give your final thought To friends who know you not Hold back those demons again Just hold on for just one minute more And hold on - before you jump the final gap And hold your breath Just hold your breath And as you fall, the weight lies scattered on your trail With every breath inhaled the ground has more detail See no-one told you it would take a leap of faith to show the way And now the fog is far above You know the leap was your mistake Too late So pause before you begin And let the truth sink in The choice is yours alone Let your dying thought Be that which you have lost Embrace those demons again

Lifeline 03:46
Rise, ageing but dignified What you lack in speed Compensate in style Another day added to the pile A hundred soft-pretenses For each worth-while But leave us a lifeline, a guiding star A way to make those wasted hours count It's not fair, but you lead the way You're no better, you're no better no But you could change tomorrow Keep saving your finest hours Keep your head forward But your eyes wide Another day cast into the fire All that depth and wisdom So volatile But leave us a lifeline, a trail of crumbs A safer way through all the traps you've sprung Of all the different sorrows You could think about Know the tables turn And you're right to want a second chance And it'll be yours Of all the things you know Paths you've trodden on Know the turns ahead May mean that we don't mean again But it'll be fine
6.
Idian Whim 05:19
All the crimes when you are sleeping They can't take away from you All the sweet lapses in sin They can't look, no they can't look Some may fall and some may rise Hold their breath in fear while you decide Out here in this innersphere what I say goes You fools better watch yourselves or I'll blow smoke While you dream, all hell breaks loose The guilty and the brave are innocently slain On an Idian Whim While you sleep... As the bloodlust takes you under Who can tell what's right and wrong? As the darkness filters in You sink deeper into sleep Some will plead for their demise Just before you strike between the eyes Those ungrateful filthy swine Hang them from the trees till they comply
7.
Hollow 04:30
While men create And analyse away the details Hidden in the frame The full picture It disintegrates No way round, there's no way to turn away No way to have the whole without the parts There's no secret no, there's no secret There's no way to find a rose without the thorns It's not a fraction, but a new reaction It's a change of soil, it's a new tomorrow It's not a question, but a new direction It's a rising shallow, it's a filled-in hollow Inside - all the treasures lined up Waiting for the one With the vision and power This frame will have had its day And disintegrate, it disintegrates
8.
Anomaly 03:55
Anomaly Outwith the walls Waiting to see If there's a place for you in here Fall and see Them, you and me We fall as one In this society of Men If everybody feels the same, how can you cause pain? If everybody shares the blame, how do you take yours? If everybody feels alone, how do you live with your self? Those that fall outside the wall A bloodstained line binds and ties us In the end your suffering will blind us all Tear down the bricks and stand on the heap Save yourself from the humility Cos Anomaly, there is a place for you in here If everybody feels the same, how can you cause pain? (If all you needed was the same old push, pull yourself up) If everybody shares the blame, how do you take yours? (If all you needed was a hangman, tie it yourself) If everybody feels alone, how do you live with your self? (If you feel alone, climb down)
